Hilari received a scholarship to study at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York after picking up her BA degree in theater at Georgia State University. She went on to appear in over 75 New York and regional theatre productions before moving the Los Angeles. Hilari performed as the lead in Theatreworks USA’s national tour of Freaky Friday directed by Christopher Ashley, which ran two years and played over 450 performances including the Kennedy Center, BAM and the Promenade Off Broadway. She also performed in the national tour of Jekyll and Hyde and with the National Theatre of the Deaf in Italian Straw Hat.
Regional credits include the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Neighborhood Playhouse (award for best actress for Guinevere), the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, East West Players and the Courtyard Playhouse in New York. She was occasionally lucky enough to appear in new productions with great folks including Ransom of Red Chief composed by Clark Gessner (You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown), On Gold Mountain with Nathan Wang and Say What? With CJ Jones and Deanne Bray.
Hilari also starred in two critically acclaimed original solo shows: Bella Rosa in New York and The Girl from Nowhere (directed by Ron Orbach) in Los Angeles. Film and television featured highlights include a role in Wes Craven’s Wishmaster as a screaming tree, a bank commercial directed by Academy Award winner Errol Morris, a Jack in the Box commercial and the feature Tomorrow Man with Corbin Bernson, making her Kevin Bacon number 3.
